Sickness-be-gone Jalapeno Mango Green Smoothie
Sometimes you just have to burn the virus right outta yourself. This smoothie will do just that.
I have had a host of bullshit sickness symptoms this week. My throat hurt. I had a cough. I was exhausted. I was phlegmy. (So phlegmy in fact, that the build up in my throat was irritating my stomach and making me nauseous. YAY!) I have had very little energy to cook this week and have survived on spicy brown rice noodle vietnamese soup, green juice, and this perfect smoothie.
The jalapeno and ginger in this badboy are perfect for clearing the sinuses and naturally giving you a bit of pep. The greens will enter your body and kick some major viral ass, because that’s what these babes were born to do. Drink this when you’re sick, or drink it when you’re well. Either way, it will taste delicious.

- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk or coconut water
- 2 large leaves of curly kale
- 1 medium banana
- ½ large keitt mango
- 1 inch fresh ginger
- ½ jalapeno (without seeds if spice irritates you, with seeds if you're looking for a major sinus clear-out)
- Place all ingredients in a blender in this order: liquid, greens, everything else. Blend until very smooth and enjoy!

Oh now that is brave, jalapeno in the smoothie. I always do fresh ginger, but don’t know if I could stomach the pepper! Hope you are feeling better, that sounds like a nasty sickness! I feel like I have some sort of pregnancy immunity right now (knock on wood) but I got super sick twice right away after my first born… hoping placenta pills will help prevent that this time around =).
This is my kind of smoothie… as in, I would drink this with or without sickness. I LOVE spicy anything especially with mango and ginger! That said… I hope you feel better soon!
